Citations Guidelines

When including Tubular data in reports or presentations (both internal and external), it’s important to properly cite your sources.

Anyone reading your document should understand how & from where you retrieved that information.

Include the following information in your documents to properly cite Tubular data:


Example: Tubular Labs | Intelligence | Avg. CPM | April 2023 | YouTube | Brazil | Food & Drink

  • Company: Tubular Labs
  • Product: Specify the Tubular product(s) used to derive the data: Ex. Intelligence, Audience Ratings, Consumer Insights, or DealMaker
  • Metric: Include the Tubular metric name
  • Platforms: List all social platforms that apply: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Twitch, or TikTok
  • Date or Date Range: Specify the data range for the data 
  • Geographic: Where applicable (Audience Ratings), specify the country of the viewership.
  • Content Filters: Explain which search terms and filters were used to derive the data. This can be summarized for brevity, ex. US Influencers with <500K followers

You must specify rankings from syndicated categories & groupings: 

  • Inclusion of Genre or Industry Filters in citation
  • If citation is about a “creator” and not a property, then creator must be used in the citation 
  • Example: Tubular Audience Ratings | All metrics are based on a 30s view threshold | Unique Viewers | Beverage Brand Creators,  A18-24 F | August 2020 | US Audience
  • Example: Tubular Audience Ratings | All metrics are based on a 30s view threshold |  Mins Watched | Facebook & YouTube | Food Media Company Creators | A18-24 F | August 2020 | US Audience

If you create custom-defined rankings, you must cite the definition of that group

  • You can create a claim (internal or external) that is based upon a great of competitors that they’ve defined. However you must clearly indicate the definition of this group
  • For Example: XYZ Media is the leading Digital Sports Creator* → Source: According to XYZ Media’s custom-defined ranking based on Tubular data
