Using Tubular Intelligence data from April through July 2026, we analyzed video length, posting time, trending hashtags, and top-performing stories across APAC, LATAM, EMEA, and North America to uncover what’s driving engagement right now.
Here’s what the data shows.
Optimal Video Length
On YouTube, News & Politics publishers in APAC are concentrating their efforts on the video duration that receives the least engagement per video. The data shows that engagement is strongest at the extremes — 0-30 seconds and 15-20 minutes — yet publishers in the region pour more than a quarter of their uploads into the 2-5 minute mid-length band, missing out on the optimal video length the data points to.

Takeaway: While great videos can be made at any length, the success of quick-hit clips that capture immediate attention and long-form explainers that generate deeper engagement shows us that publishers relying heavily on mid-length content may be optimizing for output at the expense of impact.
Optimal Time to Post
When we look at LATAM, we see that News and Politics publishers post most heavily in the mid-afternoon, but engagement peaks in the morning, and the two windows barely overlap.

Takeaway: The region’s best-performing window is also one of its least crowded, and only a sliver of uploads land in the morning slot where engagement per video runs highest. Publishers who shift distribution earlier can capture stronger per-video engagement while competing against far fewer posts.
The Most-Viewed News & Politics Hashtags on TikTok in EMEA
In EMEA, the most-viewed News & Politics hashtags blend global political flashpoints, broadcaster branding, and multilingual tags that stretch discovery across borders.

Takeaway: Three patterns stand out. First, US politics are of worldwide interest. Both #donaldtrump and #trump land in EMEA’s top 12, making a US president one of the region’s most-viewed news topics. Second, branded tags punch above their weight. Broadcaster hashtags like #bbcnews and #tagesschau are used by just a handful of creators, sometimes one, proving a recognizable tag drives both discovery and brand authority. Third, language fragments discovery, with English #news beside German #nachrichten, Spanish #noticias, and French #sinformersurtiktok. Publishers aren’t tagging to categorize but for search visibility, branding, and performance tracking.
The Most Popular Videos by US News & Politics Publishers
Two of the standout videos from the last few months show that a video can gain traction in two different ways: Fox’s footage of a violent event drew crowds, while ABC’s happy-ending spectacle got them talking.

Takeaway: Here, reach and engagement pulled in opposite directions. Fox News drew the views and ABC earned the shares that keep a video alive. Decide which tactic better suits your audience engagement strategy before you pick the story.
Across regions, one pattern is clear: performance in News & Politics isn’t just about what you cover — it’s about how, when, and how fast you deliver it.
From APAC’s split between short and long-form content to LATAM’s untapped early-morning engagement window and EMEA’s multilingual, brand-led hashtag discovery, audience behavior is measurable, strategic, and actionable.
For publishers and brands alike, the opportunity isn’t to publish more. It’s to publish smarter, aligning content strategy with real audience behavior, platform mechanics, and regional nuance.
